Adventure Shadow Box by DT Monica

Hi everyone,

Monica, here  I am back with an inspiration post. I made a Mixed Media Shadowbox and I titled this "Adventure".

For this, I took an MDF square shadow box measuring 6*6". I sanded the box roughly and cleaned it. Next, I brushed it with Papericious Black Heavy Gesso. Once it dried, I  used a brick stencil with Prima sand texture paste to add some texture inside and outside of the box. I added embellishments and used a cardboard with twine around it and stuck it to the base. I again brushed everything with gesso, and once dry I started adding colours. I used Prima Art Alchemy Light Gold, Aged Bronze and some acrylic colours Burnt Sienna, Prussian Blue and White.

Materials:

  • Mdf shadow box
  • Mdf gear embellishments
  • Prima sand texture paste
  • Prima art alchemy waxes
  • Prima typo bulb
  • Brick stencil

Take a cardstock of size 9" x 3-1/4". Score it at 3-1/4", 3-3/4", 7", 7-1/2" on the 9" side. This will be the cover.

Now take two cardstocks of size 12" x 3". Score both of them at 3", 6", and 9" on the 12" side and join them at the end pages so that they make a complete accordion. (If u want to add more photos you can attach more pages accordingly).

Now for the belly band, take a cardstock of size 1" x 8-1/2". Score it at 3-1/4", 3-7/8", 7-1/8" and 7-3/4 on the 8- 1/2" side.

Quad Easel Card by DT Priyanka

Hello Everyone

Today I am at the Blog again with an inspiration post this time.

This time I really wanted to try my hands at something new & different and something which I had never created before, thus I picked "QUAD-EASEL CARD" for my inspiration. I remember, when I saw this style of card for the very first time sometime back I got all itchy to try it but just couldn't work on it & with this inspiration post I knew I had to had to try my hands at this quad easel style.

This style gives you a lot of flexibility to experiment with themes, combinations etc. I chose to go ahead with the love theme...!

For the base, I began with taking a black cardstock in size 11"*11"{ref: Picture(a)} & than cut out 4 strips in size 5"*10" and then folded them into half (scored at 5")  {ref: Picture (b)} I further scored one side of the folded cards diagonally {ref: Picture(c)}. Then I cut out 4 squares in the size 5"*5" {ref: Picture(d)}. I then took patterned papers from Papericious & cut them accordingly to attach to the base of my easel card. For the base I cut the patterned paper into 10.5"*10.5" & the remaining 4 patterned papers in 4.8"*4.8".

I adhered the patterned papers onto the black cardstocks' of the respective sizes & then adhered the 4 cards onto the base {ref: Picture(e)} Our base is now ready to be embellished.

I embellished it flap by flap in a way that each flap coorinates with the other. (tip: it is important to think through how you are going to embellish the flaps because devaiting from the theme can kill the entire look of the card, thus it is very important that all flaps should compliment each other & be in sync)

I embellished my flaps using Spellbinders Nestabilities Fleur De Lis Square die, resins, die cuts, flowers, heat embossed sentiment from Fiskars stamp set, pearls, rhinestones. I didn't want to go overboard with my embellishments thus I kept them simple & light.

Using a double sided foam tape I adhered the small sentiments on the inside of the cards to make an easel panel (with support of these our cards will stand to make an easel structure)

Our Quad Easel Card is ready!

Love- Photo Frame by DT Mounika

Hello everyone,

I am Mounika and I am so happy to be on Rainbow Craftykari Blog with my Inspiration Post.

Everyone loves to treasure memories in a special way, and if those memories are with our kids they are all the more special! To treasure such special memories with my son who will turn 3 this August, I  made this frame.

To begin with, using Papericious black gesso I primed the frame. I then traced down the shape of the frame on a piece of pattern papers and cut it. I have used the Aazealian paper stack from Papericious's latest collection. I then stuck down the pattern paper and cut down the extras. To add some texture I used a bubble stencil with texture paste. Once it was dry I took small pattern papers and roughly arranged them. Once I was happy with the arrangement, I glued everything down. For the embellishments, I used a chipboard heart coloured using blue and yellow chalk paint. On the yellow hearts, I added glitter.

The main focal flower was made using Heartfelt Creations Arianna Blooms stamp and then shaped, the "love" sentiment embellishment was coloured using Prima Art Alchemy waxes. I used the same on the frame as well to highlight the texture at places.

Here are some close ups:

Materials used:

  • MDF frame
  • Papericious- Black Gesso
  • Papericious- Aazealian Paper Pack
  • Chipboard elements
  • Prima Art Alchemy Waxes
  • Fine Glitter
  • Mulberry flowers
  • Fillers
  • White glue
  • Chalk paints
  • Bubble stencil
  • Texture paste
  • Brushes
  • Microbeads
  • MDF embellishments

Elegantly Chic Shadow Box by DT Khushboo

Bonjour Crafters!

This is Khushboo here, back with an Inspiration Post this time. I often do colorful projects and work with color schemes. But for my latest project, I chose a different route. I've created a gorgeous 'Elegantly Chic Shadow Box' in a purely Black-and-Red relationship.

Setting up a shadow box, and further yet, creatively embellishing it is a lot of fun! It brings out the kid in me if nothing else. To arrange every single box/space is very cool! You can spin a different story in every space and yet make it all very cohesive on the whole.

My inspiration for this Shadow Box was Papericious' beautiful paper pack called 'Mi Estilio' - very stylish and extremely elegant. So once I knew what my central theme for the shadow box would be, I started collecting all my related embellishments and creative ideas. The result is as follows:

A Brief for creating this 'Elegantly Chic Shadow Box':

Shadow boxes come in different shapes and sizes, and with randomly sized inside spaces too. Select the one that appeals to you and get started.Cover the entire shadow box with 2 coats of black gesso (since I'm going with a black-and-red theme). Let it dry thoroughly between and after every coat.

Now color the whole box with black acrylic paint and let it dry completely.
Measure the inside box length and width and cut up your pattern paper accordingly.
Ink up the edges of the pattern paper with black and/or red distress inks and start gluing them down however you find them the most complementing.
Don't forget the sides of the shadow box. I've cut strips of pattern paper with random lengths and stuck them. They look dreamy!

Since my theme is 'Elegant and chic', I've embellished my shadow box with all royal-looking stuff like a chair, chandelier, photo frames, etc.
Papericious paper pack also has some beautiful shapes and motifs related to the theme like nail paint bottles, quotes, compact, lipstick, mascara, etc. I've used some of them here - on the front panel.

Finally, I've added glitter stickers like hearts and arrows on the floor of every space so as to not make it gaudy and yet maintain the elan.

Materials used:

  • Shadow Box
  • Black gesso
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Papericious Paper Pack
  • Black cardstock
  • Metal embellishments
  • Resin embellishments
  • Papericious clock embellishments
  • Glitter stickers
  • Metal chain
  • Paper flowers
  • Flower pot
  • Fillers

Hope you guys enjoyed my creations and the tutorial. Can't wait to see how you add your own twist to this!
