Altered Wall Art Tutorial By DT Priya Mishra

Hello Crafty Friends,

Priya here today with a detailed pictorial tutorial for a Mixed media Wall art. Mixed media is always fun and I enjoy a lot creating different textures and I'm showing how to get different textures on your project here today with simple little things from your stash.

Take a look at the final outcome:

Let's start the tutorial:

Step:1 I altered a square shaped MDF board, which actually was a cake base. You can take any size of a board. Here's the base:

Step 2: I gave a thick coat of white heavy gesso on the base. Once it was dry I gave another coat.

Step 3: Next, I created some texture. Here you can see, on the lower part of the board, I glued some crumpled tissue paper and also attached lace.

Step 4: At this point, I created some texture with the help of a stencil on the left side. As you can see my son also helped me in this.

For quick drying, I used the heat tool.

Step 5: Then, on the right side of the lace on upper part, I applied some texture paste and tried some random texture using my quilling comb.

A dotted tool for some more texture here and there.

Step 6: After drying, I started adding embellishments randomly. I added flowers, chipboards, resin and metal embellishments and glued them all with a glue gun.

Step 7: Then I added a few Big and small pearls, Art stones and sprinkled seed beads.

Step 8: Then I started adding colours. Here I used acrylic colours. I mixed Pink and yellow colours to get this colour and at the lower side I added black pearl acrylic colour.

This is how it looked when finished. This photo was taken at night after I finished, so the picture isn't very clear.

Friendship Layout by DT Priya Mishra

Hello Crafty Friends,

I'm Priya Mishra and am very excited to share my first DT inspiration post for Rainbow Craftykari blog. I have created a project as an inspiration for our Rainbow Friendship Challenge.

Here's what I made...

The theme is absolutely wonderful and I wanted to make something CAS this time. This has been my weakness and I struggle to leave white space with pastel shades. So this was a challenge I took up!

The base is a 12"*12" white cardstock. As the theme is Friendship, I took the photo and the sentiment from google and printed them. For my layout, I began by brushing multi medium onto the whole paper. This creates a very good base. Then, I created texture using a stencil (Bubbles all over) and texture paste. Next, I began adding colour. I used Distress Inks and a brush to spread the colours. I have incorporated all the colours of Rainbow. The chippies are from Papericious and are brushed with a thick coat of white gesso. After arranging the photo and sentiment on the base I added some butterflies, flowers and a few sequins. I layered a doily under the photo mat. I finished it by sprinkling a few drops of colours with a brush. Here are a few close ups of the layout

Supplies Used:

  • 12"*12" White Cardstock 200gsm
  • Rangers Multi Medium Matte
  • Stamploration "Bubbles All over" Stencil
  • Papericious Chipboard Heart Mesh
  • Papericious Sequins Mixed Bag
  • Distress Inks (Seedless Preserves, Pink Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feather, Mowed lawn, Mustard seed, Cracked Pistachio)
  • Doily
  • 3D Butterfly Stickers
  • Flowers
  • Photo and sentiment from Google Images

Almost all the above-mentioned products are available at Rainbow Craftykari Store or you can pre-order by sending email at rainbowcraftykari@gmail.com
Hope my project inspires you. Do participate in the challenge and have fun.Hugs,

Uncovering RCS DT Team Day 2

Hello everyone,

We are back with the second part of our DT reveal. Without any adieu let's begin.

First up we have,

Priyanka Thukral

I am Priyanka Thukral, 26 years old, Marketer by profession & a Crafter/Artist by Passion ( a Marketer by the day & crafter by night ;) ). Since my very childhood colours and crafts have always fascinated me. I was one of those who believed in giving a handmade card to people instead of rushing to archies or other stores to buy one. I started with gifting very unique gifts to my friends something that they could connect to instantly & something that would put a smile on their face. Then, I started Happily For You with a simple aim to  make a difference in someone's life & spreading happiness in a way that has a far more impact & what better than something personalized, something they see a reflection of their own in a very unique and creative way.

I love experimenting with new techniques, new products, different mediums and creating something unique and fun. I work under the brand ‘Snowflakes and Lilies’ and I love the fact that I can bring about a deep sense of versatility in my creations and that makes me feel really happy about the kind of work that I do.
